Prior to all of Vermont Academy's scheduled vacations and long weekends, it is essential that Vermont Academy is made aware of all student travel plans well in advance in order to help ensure a safe and smooth trip. It is parents' responsibility to keep their student informed of travel details and follow the travel procedures outlined below.
Vermont Academy is happy to facilitate any travel arrangements your student requires getting to/from the train station in Bellows Falls, VT and/or the local airports in Hartford or Boston (see below.)
Students are responsible for the cost of their transportation and will be billed through their student account accordingly.
Student departure and arrival dates should honor the
academic calendar. Those making arrangements should avoid making plans that will interrupt their student's academic and athletic commitments. We ask that you respect Vermont Academy’s faculty/staff and schedule student travel according to start and end dates of Vermont Academy's official school breaks as dormitories close and the dining hall is not open. Not adhering to the official break schedule makes it difficult for both your student and Vermont Academy staff. Additionally, as outlined on page 11 of the Student Handbook, students may not receive credit for work missed if they return late.
Thank you for your cooperation. Please contact the Dean of Student Life well in advance if an exception to this is necessary.
